With lash extensions, you can give up mascara. Or you can just change your look a little bit and wake up immediately with long and fluffy lashes. But there are a lot of concerns around the procedure. What if the lashes will fall out and look untidy? Will the natural eyelashes suffer from this?
Myth 1: Eyelash extensions will make your eyelashes look thin, fall off or stop growing.
The additional volume and length of lashes are created by attaching artificial to natural eyelashes. If the procedure is performed by a skilled master, and materials have quality certificates – nothing to worry about. Professional preparations and glue do not affect the growth cycle of natural eyelashes. With the right thickness and length, the artificial lashes will not overload the natural and will not lead to deformations.
Proper eyelash extensions are not harmful to your eyelashes. Some problems can be caused by non-compliance with the protocol of the procedure by the master. For example, if the master uses too much glue, you get a monolith of lashes, after which your lashes will remain in a weakened state. Or not respecting the indentation – lashes that are too close to the eyelid, will prick and bring discomfort. But the natural growth of the eyelashes is not affected by the procedure in any case – after removal or loss, the hairs will grow as before.
Myth 2: Extended eyelashes don’t last very long and fall out quickly
If the master observes the technology of lash extensions, the lashes will last about 6-8 weeks. The hairs will fall out in any case – it’s not a negative consequence of the procedure, but a natural process. Eyelashes have a life cycle: they are renewed about once every three months, so the loss of a few pieces a day – the norm. The loss of the extensions occurs together with the natural hairs. The volume will decrease evenly and imperceptibly. That is, there is no need to worry that half of the eyelid will fall out overnight.
Professionally extended eyelashes can last up to two months. But I do not recommend wearing them for so long: native lashes begin to grow back, and the eyelid looks less aesthetically pleasing. The optimal period is one month. You can additionally save eyelashes and to some extent extend the term of wear, if you will not visit the pool, sauna and solarium during the first day after the procedure.
But in general the renewal of eyelashes is due to natural and not external reasons, according to the growth cycle. Eyelash extensions will not affect your usual way of life and even allow you to save time on makeup and its removal.
To understand that it is time to remove the eyelashes, you can according to the rest of the build-up or the indentation of the lash edge. If there are not many hairs left or they are removed from the eyelid because of the growth of new ones – it’s time to go for the second procedure.
Myth 3: Extended eyelashes look vulgar
Volume and long eyelashes don’t have to look like doll lashes. The procedure allows you to achieve any effect, from natural to expressive. Eyelashes for lash extensions are different in length, thickness, dramatic curve and even color: if black seems too bright, you can choose dark brown, and if boring – blue, red or iridescent.
Eyelash extensions, which will give a slight effect of painted eyes, is called classic – one artificial eyelash is attached to one natural eyelash. 2D- and 3D-techniques imply two and three artificial hairs.
Before lash extensions discuss with the master what you expect from the procedure. You may show examples of work that you like. The image cannot always be reproduced with absolute precision – everyone has different eyelids and eye shape. But this way the master can better understand your taste.
If you are doing eyelashes for the first time and don’t know yet what kind of image you want, you can trust the master. The eyelashes will not stay with you for life, in a month you can make corrections. The main thing is not to choose the length and volume that can damage the natural lashes. When a client wants only 3D volume at maximum length, and the master says that the lashes are weakened and will not withstand the load – it’s better to listen. It’s not only about aesthetics, but also about health.
Myth 4: Eyes cannot be painted or touched
Lash extensions allows you to always have expressive and lush lashes and not to worry about streaks and lumps. Use shadows or eyeliner is completely safe.
Moreover, if you once painted lashes with mascara for a photo shoot or a holiday, and then gently remove the makeup – they will not fall off. However, you need to carefully monitor the composition: the mascara and makeup remover should not be oil – they dissolve the glue and reduce the wearing period. Eyelashes can be touched when washing and combing with a brush.
Eyelashes need daily cleaning, because during the day dust and skin secretions accumulate in the inter eyelash space. Wash your eyelashes with foam and any brush or cotton swab, and don’t forget to brush periodically for a more aesthetic look. You can use a special micellar water or foam for false eyelashes from the Lovely range, or take another without oils in the composition.
If you want your eyelashes to last as long as possible, use an fixer – it will additionally protect the coupling area from the negative effects of the external environment. A fixer with a toning effect dyes the ingrown base of light-coloured natural eyelashes and helps to prolong their wearing period. It is necessary to use such a preparation two-three times a week.
Myth 5: You can’t do eyelid extensions with an overhanging eyelid
Age changes or eyelid features are not a contraindication to eyelash extensions. The procedure can be done at any age and with any eye shape. A firm eyelid skin or an open look is not important for lash extensions: it is possible to choose the length, curve and effect of the lashes for any case. This is the task of the master. Do not hesitate to tell the specialist that you would like to make the overhanging eyelid less noticeable, the look more open, or to achieve other goals.
In eyelash extensions there are schemes for combining length, thickness and volume in different parts of the eyelid, which give the desired effect. You can round out an elongated eye or elongate a round eye with lengthening effects. You can raise or lower the corners of the eyes. With the right curves can even hide a drooping eyelid or get a lifting effect that visually rejuvenates your look. Eyelash extensions in some cases are like a real non-surgical plastic surgery that refreshes the whole face.
Myth 6: Between eyelash extensions you have to take a break
You can take breaks, but it’s not a necessary condition for lash extensions. If the volume and materials have been chosen correctly, there is no need to remove the lashes. It all depends on each case. For example, if the natural lashes are very thin, it is better not to do every month 2D-or 3D-building. Weakened lashes will be difficult to withstand such a volume.
You can walk around with extended eyelashes for years, but only if it does not bring discomfort. It is necessary to be guided by the feelings and properties of native lashes. It is necessary to make a break between extensions if lashes were overloaded with too much volume and weakened. During the recovery period I recommend to use essences or nourishing Botox: they nourish the eyelashes with useful substances and help to prepare them for the following procedure.
If you don’t want to refuse extension at all, it is acceptable to do it with thinner lashes in a small volume. You can not do repeated extension, if there are contraindications, namely eye disease or allergy to the drugs that are used during the procedure. You can return to lash extensions only after a full recovery.
