Eyebrow tinting is a procedure by which you can make the hairs of the desired color. For this purpose, a special paint is needed.
The process includes not only the application of the paint, there are four stages:
- Cleansing – the quality of the coloring depends on it
- Creation of a sketch – at this step draw a scheme of future eyebrows
- Tint application
eyebrow correction
Each step has distinctive features.
General rules on how to paint eyebrows with eyebrow tint:
- Do it in disposable gloves – so you protect your hands from the harmful effects of the dye and do not violate the rules of hygiene.
- Wear a mask. The procedure requires close contact between the master and the client. A medical mask will save from bacteria and viruses that can be transmitted in saliva particles during conversation.
- Follow the instructions for the use of paint – each has its own characteristics, and you need to adjust to them: how much to keep on the skin and in what quantities.
- Communicate with the client – during the conversation, find out what shape and color he wants. This way you minimize the risk of presenting an unwanted result to the client.
The hairline should be of a different colour than the eyebrow, and you should learn how much to hold it on the skin and how much to use.
Step by step guide on eyebrow tinting
Step 1: Clean the eyebrows.
The degree of cleaning of the eyebrows will depend on how the paint will adhere to the skin and hairs and how it will be absorbed. You need to remove makeup, remove dirt, flaking and dust.
To clean your eyebrows you will need:
- Makeup remover – lotion or micellar water
- A special shampoo for eyebrows
- A degreasing agent
- Brush
You can cleanse your skin from makeup with micellar water or a special lotion. Micellar water can be both ordinary and designed specifically for eyebrows.
To eliminate skin grease, a pharmacy chlorhexidine solution is suitable, you can also use a degreaser for eyebrows or lotion.
Cleansing sequence:
- Apply a cotton pad and rub the eyebrows with pressure. At this stage, it is important to wash off most of the make-up and remove dust from the hairs.
- Apply shampoo to your eyebrows and use a brush to scrub and lather up the product.
- Brush through the hairs so that each one is clean.
- Rinse off the product with a cotton pad dampened with plain water.
Apply water to a cotton pad and wipe your eyebrows with it.
Step 2: Create a sketch.
Before you paint your eyebrows, you need to sketch their shape. You will need:
- A pencil – powder or white;
- A flat brush;
- A cotton pad and micellar water.
To successfully draw the shape, you need to mark three points in order: the base of the eyebrow, its rise and the tail.
A. The beginning of the eyebrow
B. Top of the brow arch
C. Outer edge of eyebrow
D. Horizontal line
Place the pencil lead near the wing of the nose, so that it tends in a straight line to the beginning of the eyebrow through the inner corner of the eye. This point is the beginning of the eyebrow.
Remember that the client needs to look straight ahead as you draw the pattern. Move the pencil to the tail of the eyebrow so that the straight line from the pencil runs through the edge of the iris of the eye. The point you need is closer to the temple. Draw the point – it will be the rise of the body of the eyebrow.
Now mark the end of the eyebrow: position the pencil so that its edge touches the wing of the nose and is directed towards the inner corner of the eye.
Step 3 – mark five reference points
- The first mark marks the height of the eyebrow. Place the point where the hair growth reaches its greatest height at the bridge of your nose.
- Decide on the thickness of the eyebrow and place a point at the bottom, depending on the desired size. To avoid eyebrows weighing down your look, make sure this point does not fall noticeably below the body of the eyebrow.
- The third point is the upper one on the rise. It determines the configuration and arch of the eyebrows. The uppermost point should not be lower than the upper point of the base.
- The fourth mark defines the bottom of the arch. Picture such a point so that the brow at the point of lift is slightly narrower than the base. Make sure that the arc does not go sharply into a contraction.
- The fifth point is the end point. Mark it at the same level as the base point.
Now you can connect these points:
- Create tension on the skin above the brow and with a sharpened pencil, connect the bottom points of the base, arch and tail, and then the top points.
- Wet a flat brush on a cotton pad soaked in micellar water and gently tweak the line so that it is completely even. The brush should be held at a 45 degree angle. Keep in mind that cleaning the line from the inside will make the eyebrows wider and the outside will make them narrower. The brush should be periodically moistened on a cotton pad, so that the work does not get messy.
- Repeat the procedure with the other eyebrow.
Tip: Draw with a pencil to transfer the marks as precisely as possible and to keep the given width, rise and base of the eyebrows. To do this, put the tip of the pencil at right angles to the bridge of your nose. This will allow you to make the eyebrows the same height.
What problems you may encounter and how to solve them:
- overgrown excessive hairs of the eyebrows prevent you from carefully trimming the line – first draw a thick line, then correct it and only after that correct the thickness;
- the pencil does not draw well – in this case, moisten the lead a little, do it with a cotton pad with micellar water.
Step 4: Adjusting the eyebrows.
Before you paint your eyebrows with paint, you need to make a correction. It involves pulling out excess hairs and is carried out after the image of the shape.
Step 5: Let’s paint.
Preparation is complete, it is time to apply eyebrow paint. Choose a tone that will look harmonious on the face. To do this, be guided by hair color, skin color and personal preferences.
- Squeeze a 1 cm strip of paint into a container, add the oxidant to it, following the instructions. If you need to remove the undertones, mix the two shades: first combine the dyes and only then add the oxidant.
- Mix well so that there are no lumps. It is best to mix with a brush or paint mixer.
- Scoop up some paint with an oblique brush and distribute it from the top to the center, being almost transparent and not touching the pencil outline.
- After painting the lower part of the eyebrow, draw the paint back into the brush and apply it to the upper part of the eyebrow from top to bottom, all the way down to the center.
- After painting the first layer, wet the brush with micellar water and adjust the base of the eyebrow by adjusting the slope or making a straight line.
- You can tweak the contour if the paint is out of line in any area.
- Repeat the same procedure with the second eyebrow.
Professionals recommend performing everything step by step – perform the same manipulations with both eyebrows at once. So you spend less time.
The procedure after the second layer of paint is applied to both eyebrows:
- Add another layer of paint to the eyebrow that you painted first. This is to ensure that there are no gaps in the coloring.
- After one minute, brush the eyebrow with a brush starting from the top of the base. Remove excess paint with a cotton strip. This is to make the start of the eyebrow look smooth.
- After 3-5 minutes after combing out, rinse off the paint, starting from the base of the eyebrow. Do this with a cotton swab soaked in water. Make shrinking motions in the direction of the lift. This will prevent contrast.
- Cover the second eyebrow with another layer of dye, wait one minute and brush out the hairs in the same way.
- After 3-5 minutes, remove the excess dye with a cotton swab from the second eyebrow, and remove the composition completely from the first one. Use a wet cotton pad for this.
While there is still tint on the second eyebrow, you can correct the shape: remove downy hairs from the bridge of the nose or pull out hairs that are out of line.
If you’ll be waxing, cleanse the area beforehand with micellar water, and lubricate with a soothing cream after the procedure.
About five minutes after you washed off the paint from the first eyebrow, do the same with the second one with a wet cotton pad. Tint the eyebrows with a special soap or wax.
The total soak time of the paint on eyebrows is 10-20 minutes from the moment the first layer is applied. Keep this in mind when working on both eyebrows in turn.
The result of the procedure is influenced by the quality of the chosen dye. The best option is to buy it from trusted manufacturers.
